Guidelines for Enforcement Agencies - Submitting Works

The BBFC measures and researches seized material to check whether they are classified works and, if so, whether they are identical or different to the passed version. Following this technical comparison a Certificate of Evidence is drawn up and, following a check on the material content of the work, this will be signed by an Officer of the BBFC who has been authorised by the Home Office to do so.

Where such evidence is required we accept, as of 1st July 2006, a maximum of 8 seized discs/tapes per case and would request that each case is accompanied by an Enforcement Information Request form detailing the following information:

  • Date of seizure
  • Exhibit label numbers for each tape submitted
  • Name of defendant (where known)
  • Further details of the Board's requirements can be found on the forms themselves.
